Pairings Wine Classic Ice Cream Flavors -
Sometimes it seems that there is a national day for everything. National Sneak Some Zucchini On Porch day of your neighbor? August 8th. National Day Ampersand? Coming in September. National Action Ribbon Day? Sorry, just missed. (Begin now pinning next July!)
But the National Day of ice cream? This is one I can definitely get behind. Ice Cream deserves to be celebrated. It is delicious, creamy, evocative, and the treatment of been perfect. Sorry tape measures, ampersand, and putting food rotting on the porch of your neighbor, but the ice cream fight.
The only problem with the ice cream is that it is a bit of an overachiever. I mean, how can you improve on perfection which is a Snickers bar frozen, or a sandwich Cow Ice Cream Skinny?
How, you ask? Admission: wine. For all who lay on a glass of wine and dessert, you know that ice cream and wine pairing can be a hit-or-miss. But the food and wine are the perfect blend of summer cool and sweet and tart and ...! Enjoy
Nestlé Drumstick and Chardonnay
We all know that chicken and white wine go together, thus matching the pestle with white was a bit obvious. Reaching a butter wooded chardonnay. You will see that softens a bit by eating the upper part of the deal - delicious, crunchy, peanut portion. You can still taste the flavors of the wine, but you have to look oak. Once you get the fat cone, however, it is like a reset button for your palate. The oak is back force. You will feel like you drink two glasses of wine completely different. But without the hangover drink actually two glasses of wine.
Snickers Ice Cream Bar and Shiraz
The bold, bright, acid shiraz comes head to head with the same frozen Snickers fat in this pairing. The Snickers bar is another ice cream novelty that has no need to be put in the palates of children. The salty taste! Caramel! Peanut! It is almost as complex as the wine! Seriously, if you bought these for children, go hide in the back of the freezer now. The sweetness of the ice cream causes the acid in the wine almost disappeared, which softens the wine considerably. With the blunt acid, it also gives the wine more opportunity to present some of its underlying flavors. Two of them - chocolate and caramel - are natural pairings with this ice confection
Skinny Cow Ice. Cream Sandwich and Sauvignon Blanc
What is light, airy, even slightly effervescent? If you guessed a Ice Cream Sandwich to lean, you're right. If you guessed Sauvignon Blanc, you are also right. These two are a match made in heaven sprinkled ice cream. Unlike matching creamsicle-riesling, where the two become almost indistinguishable, the similarity of this twinning causes Sauvignon Blanc to change its flavor profile a bit. It turns a little more pungent and biting - almost like a riesling. A surprisingly complex duo.
Creamsicle and Riesling
If it has been a while since you've had a creamsicle, you might be surprised how much it is spicy. There are many citrus zest packed into this delicacy. Riesling is similar in taste profile - sweet and tart, with a bit of a punch. When combined together, Riesling essentially turns into a liquid version of a Creamsicle - in a ridiculously good way. If you want to eat your ice cream and drink too much, try this pair
Klondike Bar and Cabernet Sauvignon
What would you do for a Klondike bar? What a Klondike bar and taxi drink? Personally I would be quite Bawk like a chicken. No questions asked. If you thought Klondike Bars as children's treatment, think again. The thick chocolate shell surrounding the ice cream is vanilla decadent and surprisingly well, chocolate. It covers the mouth, lingering longer than fresh vanilla. The sugar in the bar does not make it bitter Sauvignon, as expected, but smoothes out and softens, transforming this bold wine in almost a dessert wine. Bawk Bawk
Good Humor Strawberry Shortcake Bar and Zinfandel
The strawberry shortcake bar is sweet -. probably the sweetest of the bunch. While it may be tempting to reach a similar sweet wine, resist the temptation. Too perhaps too gentle of a good thing. Instead try the light, dry Zinfandel, slightly metallic. You have a nanosecond before the bitter wine suits, reflecting the flavors of strawberries in ice cream. Seriously, they have to start selling this pairing in the right Humor Ice Cream Truck. I can not think of a reason why not. Oh wait
Cherry Garcia Ben & Jerry and Port
Oh Ben. Oh, Jerry. You really know the way to a girl's heart. Your ice cream is so rich and creamy, with just the right blend of cherry and chocolate pieces. Port, by itself, is pretty sweet, but not cloying because of its heavy woody nuances. When combined with ice cream, some of the woodiness Mellows, but the flavors of ice cream help the port remain complex. Enjoy these separately, or just go ahead and pour the port just above your scoop. You will have a good, gentle and just-as-smooth wine, not quite as sweet ice cream. The result is a perfect marriage as that - well -. Ben and Jerry I. Now, I'm not difficult
Cream and Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Edy moscato
This low-alcohol sparkling wine is like a riesling too, but softer. When paired with the chocolate chip mint similar airy, the wine loses its complexity. But he makes up for it by taking a portion of the flavor profile of the ice cream. The result is almost like a sparkling mojito - a cool, refreshing mint drink. It is quite unexpected. Totally delicious. And quite mine. Seriously. Stay away, children.
